The latest episode of the The Real Housewives of Atlanta is great Train Wreck TV.The blonde, Kim Zolciak, has been puzzling her friends (and viewers) with her claim that she is on a career path to be a country western singer. Her unseen boyfriend, who keeps Kim in quite a pampered lifestyle, is paying to encourage Kim's delusion, arranging for her to work with a top music producer named Dallas Austin and get a top singing coach.
So, this episode we see Kim meet her voice coach. This is our first opportunity to hear Kim sing. The coach asks a few questions, like do you smoke. Kim confesses to 20 cigs a day. Asked how long she's been smoking Kim says 15 years. Kim claims to be 28. Or 29. She started smoking at 13?
So, then the voice coach hits a piano note and asks Kim to sing that note. Now, I am totally tone deaf, but even I could tell Kim was nowhere near that note. Repeated tries got no closer.
After a bit more of hearing Kim's 'voice' the coach tried to have a heart to heart with the non-singer. Kim thought the coach was nitpicking her. Kim didn't know why she needed voice lessons because she'd be recording her album in a studio.
We then see Kim at the studio. She sang her song to the wide-eyed amazement or was it amusement of the producer and sound engineer. He was at a loss. He then told the engineer to play back the song. Even Kim could hear she sounded awful.
But Kim is convinced she'll be a country music star. She reminded me of some of those deluded wannabes on American Idol. It was that bad.
Before we learned that Kim had no voice we saw Kim's former best friend, NeNe, rather amusingly making fun of Kim's pretensions. Kim has formed an alliance with another of the more deluded housewives, Sheree Whitfield. On and on those two go about what a hater NeNe is, that NeNe has nothing going on in her life and is jealous of Kim's singing talent and Sheree's fashion sense and how beautiful they both are. Methinks it is Kim and Sheree who are jealous of NeNe. NeNe has a husband who seems like a nice guy. Kim is a Kept Woman with no man willing to appear on screen with her, while Sheree is getting a divorce.
We then cut to NeNe's to see NeNe planning to do a charity event to help battered women. We learn NeNe had been a battered woman. We see NeNe being the exact opposite of how the two actual haters describe her.
And then somehow word gets to Kim that NeNe was mocking her singing ability. Kim then talks trash about NeNe to Sheree some more. Kim then text messages NeNe calling her an evil bitch who she never wants to speak to again. But Kim isn't a hater, she's just hated by those like NeNe who are jealous of her beauty and beautiful voice.
In another choice moment we see Kim and Sheree go to a botox clinic so Kim could get her 6 month botox upgrade. 20 botox shots in her forehead. It was bizarre. Kim has very disturbing facial expressions. I guess the botox could explain some of that.
The YouTube video below is Kim "singing" karoke in some bar some where. Without a cigarette in sight or a glass of wine. They couldn't be far away.
