I don't think I've seen a more messed up person on a reality TV show than Kelly Killoren Bensimon. Reading the Real Housewives of New York Blogs and the comments it appears that Kelly is almost universally disliked.On one of the more "opinionated" TV forums, known as Survivor Sucks, the opinions about what's wrong with her are pretty harsh. Some think she is drugged up, which would explain why she can't remember what she says, like not remembering telling Bethenny that "I am up here and you are down here," with hand gestures to indicate Bethenny is beneath her and not on the same level.
When Bethenny tried to explain how that "not on the same level" remark was hurtful, while she was trying to smooth things over with Kelly at Jill's house before a charity meeting, Kelly acted like she had no idea what Bethenny was talking about and then started getting mad, somehow turning what Bethenny had said, into accusing Kelly of being high. Like on drugs.
Kelly is just maddening to watch. And that talk with Bethenny was real bad. She wouldn't let Bethenny say what was on her mind. It was as if Kelly acts like a little kid throwing a tantrum as soon as she realizes someone is upset with something, she becomes a brat sticking her fingers in her ears, refusing to listen.
Apparently the reunion show taping went on for 7 hours. And it was something like 90% Kelly bashing. Bravo must have gotten a lot of good footage because they are making it a 2 episode reunion show. It will be hilarious watching Kelly watch the footage of her bizarre moments with Bethenny. And explaining herself with nonsense.
I really don't think it's right that a show like this casts someone who is obviously mentally not well. I don't even think it's good train wreck TV. It just sort of makes me uncomfortable. Maybe it's because I've known a Kelly-type before, a hugely fat, homely version of Kelly.
Another thing. A couple weeks ago Kelly was in the news because she beat up her boyfriend. This is a different boyfriend than the male model, Max, she hired to play her boyfriend on the show 6 months ago. The guy she beat up is named Nick Stefanov. I do not know why it did not occur to me before, I guess it was just too obvious. But, I believe Kelly beat up the boy friend when she flew into a rage when they watched the Housewives episode where we learned Kelly was insane during her confrontation with Bethenny.
The boyfriend probably looked at Kelly and said something like "You're Nuts." And then she began beating him til he ran for safety to the police. From what we have seen of Kelly, despite her saying she does not like confrontation, I suspect this nutcase has had a life full of Kelly-caused confrontations.
