Dancing With The Stars Disco Ball Trophy Goes To Hines Ward Instead Of Kirstie Alley

I bailed on watching the Dancing with the Stars results show. I got tired of way too many weather interruptions.

Or split screens like you see in the screen cap, with Chelsea Kane dancing in the lower right corner, with the upper right and lower left showing important still images of lightning strikes. I suppose in case a viewer does not know what lightning looks like.

The upper left shows a tent either being blown by the wind, or being hit by hail.

I figured Kirstie Alley was going to be the shoo-in winner. As fun as that would be to see, I turned off the TV.

This morning I was slightly surprised to learn that Kirstie did not win. Instead the NFL footballer, Hines Ward, won the coveted mirror ball trophy.

Kirstie had lower scores from the judges than Hines or Chelsea. But, I figured she had so many more fans. That and I thought her freestyle was far more entertaining than either of her competitors.

How could she not win after losing so much weight and doing those cartwheel flips?

What an injustice.

I figured there could not possibly be all that many football fans who also watch DWTS. I am not a football fan, so it is not too shocking that I'd never heard of Hines Ward before he started dancing.

Anyway, methinks Kirstie was a winner in DWTS even if she did not win that shiny trophy.

Kirstie Alley Flips During Dancing With The Stars Finale Freestyle

That is not a screen cap of Kirstie Alley falling during her freestyle routine on the Dancing with the Stars finale. Instead of a fall, it is Kirstie going into a cartwheel move.

Just a few weeks ago I would not believe what I saw tonight on Dancing with the Stars would have been possible.

A few weeks ago, in a relatively simple move, as Kirstie wrapped a leg around Maks, Maks' leg could not handle the stress. And to the ground they fell.

During tonight's freestyle routine of the finale, the extent of the transformation of Kirstie Alley during the course of this season of DWTS was clear.

Kirstie Alley is no long the Fat Actress. She is now the shapely, well-rounded actress. Who dances well.

The Kirstie/Maks freestyle started off nice and slow. And then Kirstie ripped off some of her clothes and ran towards Maks who caught her and spun her around like a light feather. This was followed by Maks lifting Kirstie into the air in multiple formations, with Kirstie at times doing gymnastic flips.

Along with 2 instances of a Kirstie cartwheel.

I think the audience in the studio, along with the viewers, were a bit happily shocked at the Kirstie freestyle. And then those stingy judges gave Kirstie & Maks all 9s, just like they'd done for their first dance, a samba. The audience booed at the three 9s for the freestyle.

There were two other couples dancing. I did not care for the Chelsea Kane/Mark Ballas freestyle. It seemed frenetic and goofy. I also did not care for the Hines Ward/Kym Johnson halftime show freestyle. But those annoying judges did, giving those couples all 10s, except one 9 for each, giving both a total of 59, for their 2 dances.

So, it is Kirstie & Maks in 3rd place with 54 points. And the other pairs tied for first with 59.

Apparently there is one more dance for the judges to judge tomorrow.

I suspect that the huge number of votes that Kirstie gets from the viewers, will give Kirstie the coveted disco ball trophy and Maks his first win.

Then again, I don't bother to vote. I suspect others don't as well. Which means the Disney kid and her annoying partner could win. Or the football player with the Aussie partner.

Dancing With The Stars Hines Ward Gets Perfect Scores But Chelsa Kane Gets More Points

Last night was the first time I watched Hines Ward dance on Dancing With The Stars. To shorten the two hour dance marathons I had been fast forwarding past dancers I had no interest in, or had no clue as to what made them a supposed star.

Like that Romeo kid who left last week.

This week on DWTS long bios introduced each dancer. The bio suddenly turned Hines Ward into someone very interesting.

Til last night I had no idea Hines Ward was born in Seoul, South Korea, to a black dad, Hines Ward Sr. and a Korean mom, Kim Young He. When Hines was 1 the family moved to Georgia, with his soldier dad soon sent to Germany on a tour of duty. A year later Hines mom and dad divorced, with his dad convincing a court that Hines' mom could not raise him because she did not speak English. So, Hines went to live with his dad's mom til he was seven.

We heard from Hines' mom on Monday's DWTS. She now speaks English.

Hines' mom seemed to think he really had no business dancing. But, on Monday's show, Hines and partner, Kym Johnson, scored all 10 on both dances, getting 60 points for a salsa and Argentine tango. I am sure someone has made perfect scores before, but I don't remember who.

The perfect scores were made even more impressive due to the fact that Kym injured her neck while practicing on Friday, while attempting a tricky lift which had Kym falling on her neck and Hines falling on top of her. Paramedics rushed in and took Kym to the hospital.

Carrie Ann Inaba is way too easily driven to tears, and was so driven on Monday by the Hines and Kym tango.

Chelsea Kane and Mark Ballas came in first for the night, with 73 points, after winning the third dance of the night, something called the "Winner-Take-All Cha-Cha."

Kirstie Alley and Maksim Chmerkovskiy came in 3rd with 54 points after doing some Viennese waltzing and  and paso dobling. Carrie Ann was not driven to tears, but did crown Kirstie as the "Queen" of the dramatic Latin dance.

Ralph Macchio and Playboy model, Karina Smirnoff were in last place with only 48 points. For the salsa Ralph wore something called a "booty pad" to make his butt bigger to supposedly improve his butt-shaking moves. I did not notice any increase in butt size. Or any consequent extra shaking. I probably was paying more attention to the Playboy model.

Next week is the DWTS's finale. I'd like to lose Chelsea and Mark tonight and have Ralph, Kirstie and Hines in the finale. I like the Chelsea kid, but Mark wears on my nerves.

On Dancing With The Stars Maks Takes a Tumble While Holding On To Kirstie Alley

After hearing what inspired Kirstie Alley's song on Monday's Dancing with the Stars, I thought, when Maks fell at the start of the dance, it was just part of the Over the Rainbow, being optimistic after being dealt a blow, theme.

But, it wasn't. Apparently Maks got a charlie horse in his thigh muscle.

Maks Chmerkovskiy  & Kirstie Alley are my favorites to watch this iteration of DWTS.

Was Kirstie a bit heavier than during practice? Is that what caused Maks to fumble? Kirstie did appear to be wearing a big wig.

The judges gave Kirstie & Maks good scores, all 7s if I remember right.

Maks seems to be fondling Kirstie even more than Mark Ballas overly fondled Bristol Palin on the last iteration of DWTS. I can see how spending hours vertical doing all that up close dancing could easily lead to some horizontal mattress dancing.

Speaking of Mark Ballas, the funniest line of the night was Chelsa Kane saying her partner was a better girl than she was.

I like the Chris Jericho professional wrestler guy I'd never heard of before.

Sugar Ray Leonard is painful to watch, as was his boxing intro.

The other ones that I fast forward past, besides Sugar Ray, are footballer, Hines Ward and Wendy Williams.

I find Kendra Wilkinson amusing. I first met Kendra, years ago, when she was shacked up next door to the Playboy Mansion, being one of Hugh Hefner's harem.

I don't believe I'd heard of Romeo before I met him on Dancing with the Stars. I don't fast forward past him, but it's a close call.

I'm on the fence with Ralph Macchio. So far no fast forwarding. But the schmaltz over the wife grew tiresome.

I'm guessing it will be either Sugar Ray or Wendy who will be out of the running for the coveted disco ball trophy tonight.

12th Season of Dancing with the Stars Premieres with Ralph Macchio & Kirstie Alley On Top

I did not realize the 12th season of Dancing with the Stars premiered Monday night til I saw in on my list of DVR recordings.

So, I started watching with well over an hour already recorded. Which makes for a much better viewing experience with the fast forward ability.

Of this batch of  "stars" the only ones I knew of were Kirstie Alley, Ralph Macchio, Kendra Wilkinson, Sugar Ray Leonard and Wendy Williams.

Speaking of Kendra Wilkinson.

Her ex-boy friend, Hugh Hefner was in the audience. Hugh Hefner is starting to look like an old man. The audience seemed to be dominated by former Dancing with the Stars "stars."

And other "stars."

The set for Dancing with the Stars seems to be amped up, with a lot more light and sound action.

There is no Derek Hough on this 12th season of Dancing with the Stars. Depending on ones opinion of Derek Hough this is either a good thing or a bad thing.

Derek Hough's best friend, Mark Ballas, is paired with one of them of whom I know nothing, Chelsa Kane. She seemed to be a nice girl.

The highest score of the night was earned by Karate Kid Ralph Macchio, now 49 years old. He is partnered with Maksim Chmerkovskiy's ex-fiance, Karina Smirnoff.

Speaking of Maks. Does anyone know if he found himself a wife on the Ukrainian version of The Bachelor?

Speaking again of Maks. He got the 2nd highest score of the night with his surprisingly good partner, Kirstie Alley.

Kirstie Alley and Ralph Macchio got the biggest audience reactions of the night, with, I think, Kirstie being shown the loudest appreciation.

Kirstie and Maks are very amusing together.

I was a bit surprised when Maks mentioned that Kirstie looks pretty good for a 60 year old broad. She's that told, I thought? Then I remembered Cheers ended almost 20 years ago.

One of the "stars" is a guy named Mike Catherwood. He is paired with Lacey Schwimmer. He is a radio personality I'd never heard of. He got the lowest scores of the night.

I did not think Mike Catherwood was as bad as Wendy Williams. Wendy looks to be in way over her head. She sort of plodded over the stage like a big ship being guided by a tugboat in the form of Tony Dovolani.

This year's dancing jocks are wrestler Chris Jericho, paired with Cheryl Burke, footballer Hines Ward, paired with Kym Johnson and boxer Sugar Ray Leonard, paired with Anna Trebunsakaya.

Of the jocks, Sugar Ray was the worst. Chris Jericho is very energetic, while Hines Ward appears to be yet one more NFL star who easily adapts to being light on his feet.

I have no idea who Romeo is. He was paired with Chelsea Hightower. He did not dance well.

Supermodel Petra Memcova is paired with Dimitry Chaplin. Petra was injured in the 2004 Indonesian Earthquake Tsunami. She had a bit of a breakdown whilst practicing upon learning of the tragedy in Japan.

I guess I am in for now with this latest iteration of Dancing with the Stars. If not for Kirstie Alley it'd be debatable if I'd be viewing.

The Bachelor Sends Ashley Home While He Keeps Chantal & Emily In South Africa

I fast forwarded through last night's The Bachelor during lunch. I've always thought this show seems scripted due to how each iteration seems to follow, for the most part, the same plot line with the same words.

Right on schedule, all three remaining women, Chantal, Emily and Ashley, are falling in love with Brad.

Falling in love is required by the time The Bachelor takes his 3 remaining potential wives to some exotic location where they are surprised, because they've never seen the show, to be given an envelope from Chris Harrison with a key to the fabled "Fantasy Suite," should they choose to fore go their individual rooms and spend the night as a couple in the same bed.

Chantal was first up for the Fantasy Suite. After a day spent on safari in a South Africa nature preserve, Chantal eagerly accepted the Fantasy Suite offer. It was a treehouse. I saw no bathroom. Maybe there was an outhouse on the ground level.

Next up was Emily. Brad took her on an elephant ride. Emily also accepted the Fantasy Suite offer, after appearing to be a bit reluctant due to this behavior's possible bad example on her impressionable daughter.

The cameras always follow them into the Fantasy Suite, then linger, even though it is always stated that one of the assets of the Fantasy Suite is alone time away from the cameras. I suppose eventually the Fantasy Suite is camera-free.

Last up was Ashley. Brad took her on a helicopter ride over some spectacular scenery. Brad seems, to me, to have really awkward conversational skills. He can get twitchy. And to me he can look a bit weaselly.

The conversations with Emily are really dull. Brad seems a bit more natural with Chantal. But with Ashley it was really strange. It was like everything Brad asked just got them more disconnected. I couldn't figure out what he was trying to ask. He is very inarticulate.

But, Ashley accepted the Fantasy Suite offer.

Next up was the Sacred Rose Ceremony. The three women were standing outside. Brad arrived and asked to talk to Ashley, leaving the other two standing for what seemed a couple hours. Basically Brad tried to talk to Ashley again about how and why their Fantasy Date went south. This turned into the same type inarticulateness that caused the problem.

Eventually Brad decided that he could not put Ashley through the Sacred Rose Ceremony since he knew he had to get rid of her. So, Brad stuck Ashley in what looked like am Armored Vehicle and off she went. What I did not get is how did that Armored Vehicle know to arrive?

See what I mean? Scripted.

Then, as Brad was in flummoxed agony, we went to break, with Chantal and Emily still standing, while we went live to Tom Bergeron and Brook Burke.

Apparently we'd gone live previously during a break that I fast forwarded through. The live announcement of the new Dancing with the Stars cast. The only "stars" I recognized were Kirstie Alley, Wendy Williams, Kendra Wilkinson, Ralph Macchio and Sugar Ray Leonard.

And then it was back to The Bachelor where Brad finally returned to the Sacred Rose Ceremony, which seemed a bit odd, because he'd already sent Ashley home. But, Brad went ahead with asking Chantal and then Emily if they would accept the Sacred Rose.

Both did, because like I already told you, they are falling in love with a man they can see spending the rest of their lives with.
