Last night's 2 hours of 24 left me way too overstimulated. With the end of episode 12 also known as Hour 12 in 24 speak, I guess we are half way through this year's 24.
In classic 24 fashion the plots zooms along, just as soon as one crisis is solved, it morphs into another. As soon as one bad guy is killed we find out he is just one spider in a growing web.
Last night's 2 hours of 24 may have been the most over the top 24 ever. We've seen Presidents killed on 24. But I don't think we've ever seen something quite like the White House invaded with the President eventually slapped in the face by the Big Bad Guy.
It was unsettling.
I'm guessing that when this season's 24 was being written the writers were betting that Hillary Clinton would President, and so they sort of fashioned President Taylor after Hillary. Have we heard President Taylor's first name? If so, I don't remember. Unless it is Madame.
I've always liked 24. I've always appreciated its constant requirement that you willingly suspend disbelief in order to enjoy the roller coaster ride. But this year's plot, with so much corruption, reaching so far and deep, doing such evil deeds. Along with the ability to invade the White House, has raised suspension of disbelief to a new artistic high.
Next week it appears we are treated to the President being treated like we've seen Americans treated on video from the Middle East, soon before an evildoer does a beheading. And there is a huge explosion in the White House that puts a look of shock and horror on Jack's face.
I'm guessing the Vice-President will soon be totally revealed as another bad guy. Isn't that the way it usually goes on 24 with Vice-Presidents? For the most part.
24 gives away too much with its previews. But, I'll keep watching.
