Top Chef Seattle Premieres Wednesday November 7

Yesterday I learned that Season 10 of Bravo TV's Top Chef is going to be Top Chef Seattle. Season 9 was Top Chef Texas.

Top Chef Seattle premieres Wednesday, November 7 at 10/9C.

When Top Chef Texas came to the Dallas/Fort Worth zone, that being my current place of residence, it was interesting to see how Top Chef represented an area with which I am somewhat familiar.

Like when the Top Chefs were told to drive to Southfork the route there seemed to somehow go south by Fair Park in Dallas, then quickly many miles to the north, to Southfork, with no indication a distance had been traveled.

I'm fairly familiar with Las Vegas. When Top Chef has been in Las Vegas the area covered seems quite compact, except for side trips to cook out in the desert. Or at Grand Canyon.

Now, Top Chef Seattle, this is going to take place in a town with which I am very familiar, so that should make it interesting.

I suspect a lot of seafood will be featured in the cooking.

I assume the Top Chefs will be doing the majority of their cooking somewhere in downtown Seattle. Top Chef seems to always use Whole Foods. There is a Whole Foods in Seattle. But, it is north of the University of Washington. Not a quick drive from downtown Seattle.

Methinks a lot of the Top Chef shopping may be taking place in Pike Place Market. Then again, that might be difficult, what with Pike Place usually being very crowded with tourists. Maybe some of the food shopping will take place at Uwajimaya, a sprawling Asian market in Seattle's International District, with the best mall-like food court I have ever experienced.

I am guessing Top Chef Seattle was filmed this summer. Seattle had a long streak of rain-free days this summer. Top Chef Seattle may wreak havoc with the Lesser Seattle people who prefer to portray Seattle as always being soggy from rain.

My DVR is already set to record Top Chef Seattle.

The Real Housewives of New York City's Aviva Drescher is one of the Worst Train Wrecks in Reality TV History

That self described Barbie doll Pinata you are looking at on the left is Aviva Drescher. Aviva Drescher is one of the housewives on Bravo's Real Housewives of New York City. Aviva Drescher is one of the new housewives, replacing old housewives like Kelly Bensimon and Jill Zarin.

Aviva Drescher has been fascinating to watch. I do not recollect watching a worse train wreck anywhere else on Reality TV.

In the latest 4 episodes Aviva Drescher has managed to do what it took Jill Zarin several seasons to do, that being have the fans totally turn on her because of what a vile, selfish, mean-spirited, rude, foul-tempered, self-centered, spoiled neurotic human being she turned out to be, after initial very positive viewer reaction.

The first paragraph of Aviva's Bravo bio....

Aviva Drescher is the first and only New York City born and bred "Housewife" in the history of the show. At 5'10" with brains to match her beauty, this part-time socialite and full-time mother will let nothing hold her back. When Aviva was just six years-old, she was in a tragic farm accident, which resulted in the amputation of her left leg. Aviva has never let this tragedy define who she is.

The reality we have seen, as this season of RHONY has unfolded, is that Aviva makes her childhood accident, and the resultant limb loss, the focus of attention, in various ways, almost constantly.

A couple weeks ago, after Aviva saw, via comments to her Bravo blog, that the viewers were disgusted with her irrational behavior upon arrival at St. Barths, and during her short stay there, a short stay where Aviva managed to ruin what had been a fun vacation for the other housewives, Aviva blogged a sort of modified mea culpa, short of apologizing or actually recognizing that she realized it was her behavior, no one elses, which had created all the problems.

And now, after Monday night's latest episode, an episode where Aviva is her most demented yet, scolding Ramona, in a restaurant, with a delusional, nonsensical, insane sounding, bullying rant, Aviva, in her latest blog post, titled Sheer Brutality, has now gone on the offensive (in both meanings of that word) against Ramona in a totally irrational, wrong-headed rant that has already riled freshly riled viewers.

I saw Aviva's latest post shortly after she posted it. Within a very short time there were already dozens of comments, virtually all of them totally critical of Aviva. Last week Aviva's The Human Pinata blog post generated 596 comments. I've never seen such a reaction to any of the various Bravo TV show's blogs.

Next Monday is the final episode of this latest season of RHONY, followed by the reunion shows. Will Aviva wise up by then and present a believable mea culpa? Or will she be in Kelly Bensimon mode and do no behavior owning, and instead just reinforce the negative image she has already projected?

The majority of viewers making comments in various venues are pretty much begging Bravo to remove Aviva from the Real Housewives of New York City.

That is not my reaction.

I find watching a train wreck who is totally clueless about what a mess she is, to be very interesting. And sort of instructive. I have known an Aviva type, or two, in my life. Sonja's choice was mine in that type situation, as in dump the toxic person as soon as the toxicity became apparent.

Sam Bacile Muhammad Movie - Innocence of Muslim

This morning I got around to watching the YouTube video that supposedly is the cause of some Muslims being upset, again, at America and attacking American embassies and other American entities, like Kentucky Fried Chicken, around the globe.

Well.

I can see how this really dumb video might make someone mad.

If someone also was really dumb.

One of the comments on YouTube sort of succinctly summed up the issue....

"The film is so amateurish and absurd that it does not deserve the attention is it getting. Instead it appears to be a ploy to distract the world from the real reason behind the violence in Egypt, Libya, and other Islamic countries and India. The attacks were so well planned and coordinated that it was definitely intended to seek vengeance on the US and Western countries for the killing of Osama. The "Arab Spring" countries that did not want to be seen as abettors blamed the film."

I Am Sort Of Liking The New Britney Spears Version of The X Factor

I must have set my DVR to record The X Factor season one, though I don't remember this, because my DVR recorded this week's premiere episodes of season two of The X Factor.

Maybe The X Factor has special powers and forces itself on to DVRs.

I had all sorts of problems with liking last year's The X Factor. It was like a real noisy, flashy version of American Idol, was one thing I did not like. I also did not like the host, Steve Jones. Paula Abdul's predictable routines with Simon Cowell got old years ago. I had other issues, that have faded from memory with the passage of time.

So, with not much else to watch, I watched the Wednesday and Thursday episodes of The X Factor.

So far I am finding season two much more entertaining than season one. Steve Jones is gone. So far no one seems to be replacing him. Paula Abdul is gone, along with that Nichole person whose last name I don't know how to spell.

I never would have thought that I would like Britney Spears as a judge. My longest exposure to Britney Spears was on her awful Reality TV Show with her equally awful, now ex-husband, Kevin Federline.

I'd heard the name of the other new judge, Demi Lovato, but know nothing about her, except that she sings songs. She plays the really sweet nice girl judge, in contrast to Britney Spear's brutally truthful, some think mean, judge.

The behind the scenes parts of The X Factor seem to be filmed in some sort of super saturated hyper realistic mode.

There are a lot of what appear to be obviously staged bits. Like, we were supposed to believe that a son is driving his mom to the audition, talking about it, with one camera filming mom from the passenger's side of the car, with another camera filming the driving son from the other side. And then we see the son sing and, of course, he does well.

Anyway, I don't know why, but I'm finding the new version of The X Factor much more entertaining than last years.

But, unfortunately, apparently a lot of viewers prefer and NBC singing competition show I've not watched, The Voice, which airs when The X Factor airs. The X Factor's premiere had only 8.5 million viewers, down 3.5 million from last year's premiere. The Voice had 3 million more viewers than The X Factor.

Methinks there are way too many singing competition shows on TV. The suffering original, American Idol seems to be having trouble finding replacement judges. I'd volunteer, but I'm tone deaf.
