Vanderpump Rules With Stassi Schroeder Being Unruly

A few weeks ago I was watching what I thought was going to be a two hour episode of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, with the first hour ending with Brandi Glanville having had a sitdown with Scheana Marie, one of the women Brandi's ex-husband, Eddie Cibrian, had committed adultery with.

Brandi ended her talk with Scheana with the quality of the video suddenly changing, like the colors were more saturated, or something. And then I realize I'd been tricked into watching the beginning of the first episode of Vanderpump Rules.

Well, I really like the Real Beverly Hills Housewife, Lisa Vanderpump, so I gave her spin-off a chance.

I was appalled. Really really really bad Reality TV. Seemed really fake. And the cast of really fake real people seemed really unlikable.

Particularly a self-absorbed, totally un-self aware person named Stassi Schroeder.

Well, my DVR recorded the following episodes of Vanderpump Rules, with me forgetting to cancel the recordings.

And so I watched them.

Vanderpump Rules is so bad it has turned out to be good, in a really bad train wreck TV sort of way.

On one of the ubiquitous TV Forums I read one viewer opine...

This show is a delicious trainwreck. Sort of a combination of Jersey Shore meets The Hills. I actually enjoyed watching this disaster this week.

All I know about Jersey Shore and The Hills is that both are or were on MTV and that I have never watched them.

All the self-absorbed cast of unlikeable work at Lisa's SUR restaurant in Beverly Hills. With most claiming to be Mactors. As in models/actors. Or wannabes.

One of the couple pairs are both models, and I assume actor wannabes. That being Kristen Doute and Tom Sandoval. Kristen prefers not to wear makeup, while Tom won't leave home without being madeup. Kristen is not very attractive, either looks-wise or twisted personality wise. Tom looks like he shaves his forehead and says really dumb stuff.

But it is Stassi Schroeder and her demented relationship with sometime live-in boyfriend, Jax Taylor, that is the core wreck of this train wreck. Stassi is not all that attractive, though she seems to think she is Marilyn Monroe combined with Elizabeth Taylor combined with Mae West. I have seldom witnessed such a sense of entitlement. Or delusion.

Will Stassi get her needed comeuppance? Would seeing that keep me watching? I don't know. Stassi is already getting her comeuppance, viewer reaction-wise. As in she is being shredded in Internet TV forums.

I was shocked, shocked I tell you, to learn that Vanderpump Rules is not the first time Stassi Schroeder has annoyed me on a Reality TV show.

Way back in 2005 Stassi, along with her mom and dad and brother, were on The Amazing Race 8, known as the Family Edition. Stassi was 17 at the time.

The Schroeders lived in New Orleans. Early on a leg took teams to New Orleans. The Schroeders thought they had an easy first place, due to being in their hometown. But they got eliminated.

A month after the end of Amazing Race 8, Hurricane Katrina arrived in New Orleans, badly damaging the Schroeder home. Fellow racing family, the Rogers, helped evacuate the Schroeders to their home in Shreveport for a temporary refuge.

I do not remember Stassi having personality problems when she was on The Amazing Race, certainly not of the memorably demented sort she exhibits on Vanderpump Rules.

I can not help but wonder if Lisa is happy with Vanderpump Rules. It is interesting seeing her play the boss role, so well, in her restaurant.

Will I keep watching this train wreck? I don't know.

Lisa's SUR Opening on The Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills Was Disturbing

This week's next to last, season 2 episode, of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills was an odd one.

Real odd.

Very contrived. Almost like it was scripted.

I thought the episode would start off with the girls still in Hawaii obsessing over Kim. Instead the episode began on the mainland.

Mainly focused on the opening of Lisa's SUR restaurant add-on.

Did I make it up in a bad dream last night, or did I actually see on this episode that SUR stands for Sexy Upscale Restaurant?

Lisa's staged SUR opening had so many drama elements piled up it was ridiculous.

There was an ex-girl friend of Adrienne's husband Paul. Not much drama came of that.

Then there was a waitress who Brandi learned had an affair with her ex, Eddie Cibrian, while Brandi was in the hospital birthing a baby. When Lisa learned that one of her waitresses had done Brandi wrong, Lisa sent the waitress home for the night. Not much drama came of that either.

Brandi seems so level-headed and funny. Eddie Cibrian must be a moron.

And then there was Adrienne's personal chef, Bernie, who shows up and is greeted by Lisa who then tells an assistant she doesn't know who that was. And then speculates that it might be Adrienne's cook. Bernie does not like Lisa, always referring to her as that "British lady across the street." Bernie did not provide any drama.

And then there was the uninvited arrival of Cedric, the Houseguest from Hell. Finally some of the scripting delivers some drama. Several were shocked to see Cedric there. Lisa asked Cedric to leave. Cedric did not seem to understand why Lisa would want him to leave.

Methinks the Bravo producers told Cedric they'd give him a thousand bucks if he showed up to make for some drama.

And then there was Taylor.

Taylor Armstrong.

Which is not her real name. A weird looking Oklahoma con-woman who, I think, drove her husband, Russell. to suicide.

Taylor shows up at Lisa's opening of SUR with her extremely creepy, likely ethics violating, supposed therapist. The therapist is all simplistic smarm, which Taylor pretends is helping her.

Arriving at Lisa's SUR opening, a night which should have been all about Lisa and  her opening, Taylor insists all the housewives gather together so Taylor can once again ruin a party with her personal pity party.

All the housewives pretended to care, except for Kim who locked herself in what must have been SUR's only bathroom, because soon there was a line wanting to use the facilities. Kim's gay Bull Mastiff boy friend, Ken, tried to get Kim out of the bathroom, to no avail.

Finally, after what seemed a couple of hours Kim emerged from the bathroom, acting happy like a crazed loony bird. Because that is what she is.

The scene of Kim telling her sister Kyle about her litany of woes with the gay Bull Mastiff boyfriend, including being 3 months late with ovulating, well, it was just too much.

How can Kim still be ovulating? Kim appears to be at least 60. Is that not well past the period when periods arrive and well into the age of menopause?

I think Kim's gay Bull Mastiff boyfriend, Ken, is a saint to put up with that nutcase. Just watching Kim get ready to go to Lisa's SUR opening was bizarre. Hauling so much stuff to a one night stay in a hotel? And then throwing it all over the place, on the floor?

What drugs is Kim on and why does she have such a problem keeping track of her stash, I watched and wondered?

And another thing. Is California Child Protective Services looking into removing Taylor's daughter, Kennedy, from Taylor's care?

The Real Housewives Lisa Vanderpump's Key to the City of Beverly Hills

Lisa Vanderpump looking sultry on her website
I knew that the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' Lisa Vanderpump and husband Ken were restaurateurs with restaurants all over the world.

I did not know that, in addition to restaurants, Lisa has designed yachts, homes, her own clothes and acted in movies and TV in her younger years.

It was being curious as to how the Vanderpumps amassed their fortune that led me learn more about Lisa.

Lisa Vanderpump Day in Beverly Hills
I also did not know til this morning that Lisa's husband Ken's last name is not Vanderpump. He is Ken Todd.

I also did not know that someone named Jimmy Delshad had declared March 1st in Beverly Hills "Lisa Vanderpump Day" with Lisa being given the Key to the City.

I do not know on which year's March 1st Lisa Vanderpump Day occurred.

Lisa has a website, lisavanderpump.com.

On Lisa's website I found the below "About" info, apparently written by Lisa, along with links to websites for two of her California restaurants, Villa Blanca and Sur where I learned that menu prices have been reduced due to these tough economic times...

Thank you for visiting my site, my name is Lisa but those closest call me Pinky. I have been married for 28 years to my husband Ken Todd, I was snatched from the cradle! We have two children, Pandora 24 and Max 18. Unfortunately for me as I’ve really adored being a mother, my children have grown so I’ve filled my nest with 4 legged furry friends. They are the loves of my life. Jiggy (Gigolo), Lollipop, Pikachu, and Buki make our nest complete.

As you know I am on the show The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, this is my first reality show but not my first venture into television. It was quite an experience I can’t tell you too much, but tune in I’m sure you won’t be disappointed!

I had an unusual childhood attending a drama school full time from the age of nine! I loved acting in many children’s films and television series when I was growing up. We have lived in London, the English Countryside, South of France, and came back to Beverly Hills 6 years ago. I have great passion for life and I have tried to instill that in my children.

Lisa Vanderpump's Sur Restaurant & Bar
Since returning to the US, I’ve been working in many different arenas. I have opened 2 very successful restaurants with my husband Ken; Villa Blanca in Beverly Hills and SUR in West Hollywood. I have designed all our 26 restaurants, bars, and clubs with my husband over the years and have really enjoyed doing so. My motto in life is find something that you love to do and then you won’t have to work a day in your life. I also write for Beverly Hills Lifestyle Magazine and spend a lot of time at Epione, where I have developed a serious skin care line with my partner Dr. Simon Ourian.

Most of my clothes are designed by myself in conjunction with my dear friend Christina Makowsky and Alan Del Rosario.

My husband and I are philanthropic and support various charities.
