To the right you are looking at Meryl Davis & Maksim Chmerkovskiy a moment or two before they won the coveted mirror ball trophy in the latest iteration of Dancing with the Stars.
This makes two Reality TV competition shows with satisfying endings this week. First was Dave & Connor winning The Amazing Race All Stars, and now Meryl and Maks winning DWTS.
It would have also been a satisfying win if Amy Purdy and Derek Hough had won the mirror ball. But Derek has won something like five times, whilst Maks never won til last night.
Everything about Dancing with the Stars seemed to be a vast improvement this season.
The guest judges added an interesting element. The production values of the dance numbers and the stage sets and the packaged pieces seemed greatly amped up.
Cheesy, sort of embarrassing elements, like Dance Center with Kenny Maynes, or whatever his name is, were axed.
And the new co-host, Erin Andrews, was such a witty, funny, likable change from the previous rather wooden, leaden, dull, humorless co-hosts who came before her.
And then there were the dancers, I mean, celebrities. I knew who more of them were this time than ever before. And some were actual celebrities. Like Drew Carey.
And some with whom I was not familiar, as in James Maslow, Amy Purdy, the Olympic Gold Medalists, Charlie White and his skating partner, the winner, Meryl Davis, I came to like and to understand why they could be considered celebrities.
The effect Meryl had on Maks, changing him from the Bad Boy of the Ballroom, into a Teddy Bear, including a scene of Maks crying and getting comforted by Tony Dovolni, well this was not the Maks we'd seen before.
I half expected Maks to actually spout off an actual marriage proposal in the chaos which ensued after he and Meryl won. That would have been Reality TV Gold.
The next season of Dancing with the Stars has its work cut out for it if it is going to top what the show did this year.

After Derek & Maria Got The Boot Maks & Me Want To Know The Full Dancing With The Stars Voting Results
![]() |
| Hot Couple Derek Hough & Maria Menounos |
Katherine Jenkins and Mark Ballas were informed early in the show that they would not be getting the boot. I find Katherine Jenkins really cute and likable. Mark Ballas I do not find cute and likable.
Katherine Jenkins and Mark Ballas did not get perfect scores from the judges on Monday's show. Katherine had a fall. Maybe she got sympathy votes.
Which brings up something that has bugged me ever since I started watching Dancing with the Stars.
The voting.
Tom Bergeron says something like 'Combining the judges' scores with the public vote I can tell you right now what couple is in jeopardy."
We are never told what the public vote is that got the couple in jeopardy.
How did Derek & Maria go from being in 1st place on Monday's show, with Mark & Katherine in last place, to Derek & Maria getting the boot? It would seem that Mark & Katherine would have had to come in first with the public vote and Derek & Maria last, for this outcome to occur.
Makes no sense to me.
Makes no sense to Maks either.
In an article in TV Guide titled Dancing's Maks: I Hope There Are "Major Discussions" in the Off-Season Mr. Maksim Chmerkovskiy gets a lot of pent up Dancing with the Stars frustration of his chest, with the below blurb being one example...
We're dancers and professionals and we're proud of ourselves, but we all want to know what we're a part of. I would like to know the ins and outs of a show I'm putting my blood, sweat and tears into. I want to know why the judges have lost consistency and how many votes we got. How much did Kirstie and I lose by? How much did Mel and I lose by? We dancers will all pull together to get on the same page with the producers. We're all going into a season blindfolded and it's frustrating when you're in the middle of an exhausting and demanding season.
So, the professional dancers don't get told the voting details that got them the boot?
I would like to have how the judges' scores are combined with the public score to arrive at the bootee, and have it explained in a coherent way that makes sense to a math challenged person like myself.
As for Maks and continuing to dance on Dancing with the Stars. I find Maks to be very amusing. I am surprised that a TV sit-com producer has not seen the comedic possibilities of Maks on his own sit-com.
As for the romance between Derek and Maria.
Derek is 26. Maria is 33.
Does this make Maria a cougar in this relationship? In the picture above the couple seems to be enjoying some pool time and adult beverages. An empty Bud Light appears to be on the ground next to Derek. I can't tell what type cocktail Maria is holding.

Mad Maks Attack On The Dancing With The Stars Judges Was The Best Part of Week 6
![]() |
| Maksim Chmerkovskiy & Hope Solo |
I have never voted on any Reality TV show and don't actually know how to do so. But, if I did go to the effort I would have done my voting for Maks & Hope last night.
I really think Dancing with the Stars should drop the judge's scoring. Just have them comment, ala American Idol. And leave the voting to the viewers, ala American Idol.
Maks & Hope ended up in next to last place, only one point ahead of clunky, chunky Chaz Bono.
The brouhaha with Maks started when cranky old Len Goodman told Hope this was her worst dance yet. The audience began to boo, with Maks urging the audience to boo more.
Maks encouraging the audience in their booing had Len Goodman telling Maks that "Half the fault is yours."
Maks then said something like the audience enjoyed the journey of him and Hope. Whatever that meant.
But, whatever it meant, it had Len Goodman retorting that "I've been in this business for nearly 50 years."
To which Maks, with all due respect suggested, "Maybe it's time to go."
This had the super annoying Carrie Ann Inaba chastising Maks with "Don't be disrespectful like that." Which had me wondering what type of dis-respectfulness meets Carrie Ann's approval?
Maks accused the judges of being judgmental. I give Maks the benefit of the doubt on that one, with the heat of the moment causing him to say something silly. Like when he and Hope were up in the Skybox, awaiting their scores, or maybe it was after they got their low scores, when Maks said to Brooke Charvet, "With all due respect, this is my show. I helped make it what it is."
Well, that sounded silly, but it is sort of true. Maks and several of the other professional dancers have become bigger "STARS" than the mostly pseudo-stars they dance with.
The DWTS results show will be DVRed tonight for my fast forwarding viewing pleasure, zipping to the end to see if Maks & Hope get the boot and if this causes another amusing mild temper tantrum from Maks.

Dancing With The Stars Season 13 Premiere With Chaz Bono Doing Well
My impressions of the bloated 2 hour premiere of Season 13 of ABC's Dancing With The Stars?
Well, ABC has built a nice new big ballroom for its top-rated show.
Carson Kressley, so far, appears to be this season's amusing Kirstie Alley/Cloris Leachman combo. I suspect Carson will be dancing for many weeks.
David Arquette. Not a fan. But, he did well, if overly intense. I don't know if he is divorced from Courtney Cox, or what, but she was in the audience, being supportive, along with their kid.
I only fast forwarded through one of the "Stars." That being a pro sports guy I'd never heard of, Ron Artest. He seemed annoying to me. I liked his pro partner's name though, Peta Murgatroyd.
Mark Ballas wears on my nerves. His "Star" is a Reality TVer I'd never heard of, Kristin Cavallari. Kristin is cute. Mark is not cute. Mark flails around way too much with his routines, drawing attention to himself, rather than directing attention to his "Star."
I think fan pro favorite Maks' brother Val Chmerkovskiy's "Star" partner, Elisabetta Canalis, may be the first to get the boot. Near as I can tell Elisabetta's primary claim to stardom was being George Clooney's bedmate for a period of time. Val appeared to be trying real hard to be Mr. Personality, but he seems to lack his brother's likability factor.
Speaking of Val's brother, Maks lucked out in the "Star" department with an Olympic soccer player I'd never heard of before, named Hope Solo. Hope is very likable and seemed to adjust to doing the dancing well. This may be Maks' best shot to win the coveted mirror ball trophy yet.
Nancy Grace surprised me by being somewhat graceful. She's got a pro partner we'd not seen before. An Irish guy named Tristan MacManus. Tristan has a thick Irish accent. It was amusing when he confused Nancy by saying "turd" whilst meaning "third." Apparently "turd" is how "third" is pronounced in Ireland.
I knew nothing of J.R. Martinez. I was ready to hit the fast forward button, but then I watched, drawn in by his partner, one of my favorites, Karina Smirnoff. J.R. turned out to be quite remarkable. I suspect it will be awhile before he gets the boot. And he may end up being the mirror ball trophy winner.
Cheryl Burke appears to have slimmed down. She is also one of my favorite pros. She got stuck with Rob Kardashian. Rob was better than I thought he would be. Rob has been in the press saying he hoped doing the dancing would help him lose some of the 200 plus pounds he's put on his 5' 10" frame.
Chynna Phillips did well, according to the judges. But, I was bored by her. Chynna's pro partner, Tony Dovolani, nice guy, but not one of my favorites.
Derek Hough is back. Partnered with Ricki Lake. Ricki did surprisingly well. I think she could be the possible winner. It helps having multi-winner Derek as your partner.
That leaves only one "Star" remaining. My favorite of the night. Chaz Bono. Paired with Lacey Schwimmer. Chaz has put on weight since losing weight on Celebrity Fit Club. And yet Chaz was able to move that body of his. I was surprised at how at ease Chaz seemed when it came his turn to dance, at the end of the 2 hour show. That is a lot of anxious waiting. Chaz looked pretty much effortless and like he was having himself a real fine time.
Methinks it will be either Ron Artest, Elisabetta Canalis or Rob Kardashian who gets the boot from DWTS tonight.
Over on Survivor Sucks I thought natnyc911's overall thoughts were cogent....
Ron (Meta whatever stupidity he decided he wanted his name to be)... Awful. He may do a bit better in ballroom as compared to fast latin dances but that was so rough. It was as if Lurch was dancing.
Rob... Better than I expected but nothing at all to write home about. He actually looked like a little kid that was trying to do something correct that was taught to him. The footwork when it was supposed to be gliding was anything but.
Kristin... It was okay. A little awkward when she was without Mark and he continues to grate on my nerves, season after season. She could improve a whole lot though if she sticks around.
Chynna... Nice! Really elegant. I wasn't going nuts or anything but better than everyone who came before and she should be really proud of that. Kudos to Tony for finally (maybe) getting a partner to go deep in the competition with.
Nancy... Yep, better than expected for me. A tad awkward from time to time (I expected that) but no denying that she did not stink up the floor as many just assumed she would. And her personally was good tonight and for her, that's a major plus.
David... Whoa. Relax! It looked like he drank about 5 red bulls before going out there. At one point, he was running. But he is charming and the dancing was decent. He is another that will go really far because he will improve.
Elisabetta... This was a worse than I expected situation. As awkward as Kristin was alone, Elisabetta was worse. And Val is trying TOO hard to be like Maks but it doesn't work for him. They are in major trouble tomorrow night I think.
Hope... Good! Sure, she is masculine and stuff but that can worked out. Maks has another decent shot at the trophy this season. She reminds me of the Shawn Johnson in terms of needing to be more feminine and elegant but all the tools are there.
Carson... Fun! I laughed throughout. The dancing was pretty bad but I don't think he or anyone who is a fan of his cares at all about that. He could last as long as the fans keep him in for me because he brings the entertainment. Think of it like Cloris Leachman in that respect.
JR... Now, I watch All My Children (RIP this week by the way), so I am a bit biased toward him and any soap star that does this show. That being said, he is right up there with Chynna for best of the night. It was just a really good first routine.
Ricki... Go Ricki! I think out of everyone, I would give up time to vote for her as much as I did Kirstie last season. It was a really decent job and she looks like she cares a whole lot about trying each and every week.
Chaz... I might be alone on this but I thought the scoring was low on him. He didn't deserve 8's or anything but I thought he did better than a 17. Eh. I thought he did well and definitely another better than I expected dancer.

Kirstie Alley Flips During Dancing With The Stars Finale Freestyle
That is not a screen cap of Kirstie Alley falling during her freestyle routine on the Dancing with the Stars finale. Instead of a fall, it is Kirstie going into a cartwheel move.
Just a few weeks ago I would not believe what I saw tonight on Dancing with the Stars would have been possible.
A few weeks ago, in a relatively simple move, as Kirstie wrapped a leg around Maks, Maks' leg could not handle the stress. And to the ground they fell.
During tonight's freestyle routine of the finale, the extent of the transformation of Kirstie Alley during the course of this season of DWTS was clear.
Kirstie Alley is no long the Fat Actress. She is now the shapely, well-rounded actress. Who dances well.
The Kirstie/Maks freestyle started off nice and slow. And then Kirstie ripped off some of her clothes and ran towards Maks who caught her and spun her around like a light feather. This was followed by Maks lifting Kirstie into the air in multiple formations, with Kirstie at times doing gymnastic flips.
Along with 2 instances of a Kirstie cartwheel.
I think the audience in the studio, along with the viewers, were a bit happily shocked at the Kirstie freestyle. And then those stingy judges gave Kirstie & Maks all 9s, just like they'd done for their first dance, a samba. The audience booed at the three 9s for the freestyle.
There were two other couples dancing. I did not care for the Chelsea Kane/Mark Ballas freestyle. It seemed frenetic and goofy. I also did not care for the Hines Ward/Kym Johnson halftime show freestyle. But those annoying judges did, giving those couples all 10s, except one 9 for each, giving both a total of 59, for their 2 dances.
So, it is Kirstie & Maks in 3rd place with 54 points. And the other pairs tied for first with 59.
Apparently there is one more dance for the judges to judge tomorrow.
I suspect that the huge number of votes that Kirstie gets from the viewers, will give Kirstie the coveted disco ball trophy and Maks his first win.
Then again, I don't bother to vote. I suspect others don't as well. Which means the Disney kid and her annoying partner could win. Or the football player with the Aussie partner.

Kirstie Alley For The Win After Dancing With The Stars Eliminates Ralph Macchio
It was no great surprise that Tuesday night's Dancing with the Stars elimination show eliminated Ralph Macchio and Karina Smirnoff. They trailed well behind the other couples after Monday's dancing.
And then there was the 13 point boost Chelsea Kane and Mark Ballas got from winning that Cha-Cha dance off, which made it unlikely they'd get the boot.
Reading the Interwebs this morning it appears that Kirstie Alley will have to mess up real bad and get real low scores to not give Maks his first glittering disco ball trophy.
On those same Interwebs it quickly becomes apparent that Mark Ballas annoys many viewers. And while Chelsea Kane is a likable girl, she just does not have a big fan base.
Unlike Kirstie Alley.
Like me, it seems a lot of people warmed to Hines Ward after learning his history, this week, on Monday's performance show. But, it appears a lot of people think the judges seriously overscore Hines.
Kirstie is paired with the professional dancer who may be the most popular with the fans. Maks Chmerkovskiy. We've been seeing these pro dancers for so many years now that they often are as much, or more, of a celebrity as those they are paired with.
For instance, in the case of Chelsea Kane, I had never heard of her before. But I knew who Mark Ballas was. And that I did not particularly care for him. Thus a negative for Chelsea.
In the case of Hines Ward, I knew nothing about him. But, I like his partner, Kym Johnson. But not enough that it caused me to watch the Hines/Kym dances til this past Monday night.
Now, with Kirstie Alley, I've known who she is for decades. And have always liked her very much. She is paired with my favorite of the pros.
Like I said, I think Kirstie will need to mess up real bad next Monday night to not win the coveted glittery disco ball trophy.

Dancing With The Stars Hines Ward Gets Perfect Scores But Chelsa Kane Gets More Points
Last night was the first time I watched Hines Ward dance on Dancing With The Stars. To shorten the two hour dance marathons I had been fast forwarding past dancers I had no interest in, or had no clue as to what made them a supposed star.
Like that Romeo kid who left last week.
This week on DWTS long bios introduced each dancer. The bio suddenly turned Hines Ward into someone very interesting.
Til last night I had no idea Hines Ward was born in Seoul, South Korea, to a black dad, Hines Ward Sr. and a Korean mom, Kim Young He. When Hines was 1 the family moved to Georgia, with his soldier dad soon sent to Germany on a tour of duty. A year later Hines mom and dad divorced, with his dad convincing a court that Hines' mom could not raise him because she did not speak English. So, Hines went to live with his dad's mom til he was seven.
We heard from Hines' mom on Monday's DWTS. She now speaks English.
Hines' mom seemed to think he really had no business dancing. But, on Monday's show, Hines and partner, Kym Johnson, scored all 10 on both dances, getting 60 points for a salsa and Argentine tango. I am sure someone has made perfect scores before, but I don't remember who.
The perfect scores were made even more impressive due to the fact that Kym injured her neck while practicing on Friday, while attempting a tricky lift which had Kym falling on her neck and Hines falling on top of her. Paramedics rushed in and took Kym to the hospital.
Carrie Ann Inaba is way too easily driven to tears, and was so driven on Monday by the Hines and Kym tango.
Chelsea Kane and Mark Ballas came in first for the night, with 73 points, after winning the third dance of the night, something called the "Winner-Take-All Cha-Cha."
Kirstie Alley and Maksim Chmerkovskiy came in 3rd with 54 points after doing some Viennese waltzing and and paso dobling. Carrie Ann was not driven to tears, but did crown Kirstie as the "Queen" of the dramatic Latin dance.
Ralph Macchio and Playboy model, Karina Smirnoff were in last place with only 48 points. For the salsa Ralph wore something called a "booty pad" to make his butt bigger to supposedly improve his butt-shaking moves. I did not notice any increase in butt size. Or any consequent extra shaking. I probably was paying more attention to the Playboy model.
Next week is the DWTS's finale. I'd like to lose Chelsea and Mark tonight and have Ralph, Kirstie and Hines in the finale. I like the Chelsea kid, but Mark wears on my nerves.

Will Posing Nude in the May Playboy Get Karina Smirnoff Kicked Off Dancing With The Stars?
It has been years since I bought myself a Playboy magazine. At one point in time I was a subscriber.
Seconds ago I learned of Hugh Hefner's tweeting of the fact that Dancing With The Stars' Karina Smirnoff will be on the May issue's cover.
And nude inside.
Karina is my favorite of the DWTS Russians. Along with her ex-fiance, Maksim Chmerkovskiy.
Word is that Karina will be fired as a Dancing With The Stars dancer if it's true she get nekkid in Playboy.
Some sort of violation of contract deal.
Which seems just a tad hypocritical to me. Currently on Dancing With The Stars we have Kendra Wilkinson dancing. Kendra has been naked in Playboy. Holly Madison has danced on DWTS. Also naked in Playboy. Pamela Anderson has danced on DWTS. Naked all over the place, including multiple times in Playboy.
Methinks Hugh Hefner should have convinced Karina to do a Playboy photo shoot with her ex, Maks. That likely would have turned into an all-time Playboy magazine best seller.
A couple Internet buzz blurbs about this serious issue....
The San Jose Mercury News reported that an unidentified Dancing with the Stars insider told the Popeater website, “If Karina posed naked, she can kiss her dancing days goodbye.” ABC has not released an official statement on the matter.
According to AceShowbiz, by posing nude, Smirnoff would have violated her contract because she did not get consent from the Dancing with the Stars executives prior to posing for the May 2011 issue of Playboy. Smirnoff reportedly will appear on the cover and inside the issue.

On Dancing With The Stars Maks Takes a Tumble While Holding On To Kirstie Alley
After hearing what inspired Kirstie Alley's song on Monday's Dancing with the Stars, I thought, when Maks fell at the start of the dance, it was just part of the Over the Rainbow, being optimistic after being dealt a blow, theme.
But, it wasn't. Apparently Maks got a charlie horse in his thigh muscle.
Maks Chmerkovskiy & Kirstie Alley are my favorites to watch this iteration of DWTS.
Was Kirstie a bit heavier than during practice? Is that what caused Maks to fumble? Kirstie did appear to be wearing a big wig.
The judges gave Kirstie & Maks good scores, all 7s if I remember right.
Maks seems to be fondling Kirstie even more than Mark Ballas overly fondled Bristol Palin on the last iteration of DWTS. I can see how spending hours vertical doing all that up close dancing could easily lead to some horizontal mattress dancing.
Speaking of Mark Ballas, the funniest line of the night was Chelsa Kane saying her partner was a better girl than she was.
I like the Chris Jericho professional wrestler guy I'd never heard of before.
Sugar Ray Leonard is painful to watch, as was his boxing intro.
The other ones that I fast forward past, besides Sugar Ray, are footballer, Hines Ward and Wendy Williams.
I find Kendra Wilkinson amusing. I first met Kendra, years ago, when she was shacked up next door to the Playboy Mansion, being one of Hugh Hefner's harem.
I don't believe I'd heard of Romeo before I met him on Dancing with the Stars. I don't fast forward past him, but it's a close call.
I'm on the fence with Ralph Macchio. So far no fast forwarding. But the schmaltz over the wife grew tiresome.
I'm guessing it will be either Sugar Ray or Wendy who will be out of the running for the coveted disco ball trophy tonight.

12th Season of Dancing with the Stars Premieres with Ralph Macchio & Kirstie Alley On Top
I did not realize the 12th season of Dancing with the Stars premiered Monday night til I saw in on my list of DVR recordings.
So, I started watching with well over an hour already recorded. Which makes for a much better viewing experience with the fast forward ability.
Of this batch of "stars" the only ones I knew of were Kirstie Alley, Ralph Macchio, Kendra Wilkinson, Sugar Ray Leonard and Wendy Williams.
Speaking of Kendra Wilkinson.
Her ex-boy friend, Hugh Hefner was in the audience. Hugh Hefner is starting to look like an old man. The audience seemed to be dominated by former Dancing with the Stars "stars."
And other "stars."
The set for Dancing with the Stars seems to be amped up, with a lot more light and sound action.
There is no Derek Hough on this 12th season of Dancing with the Stars. Depending on ones opinion of Derek Hough this is either a good thing or a bad thing.
Derek Hough's best friend, Mark Ballas, is paired with one of them of whom I know nothing, Chelsa Kane. She seemed to be a nice girl.
The highest score of the night was earned by Karate Kid Ralph Macchio, now 49 years old. He is partnered with Maksim Chmerkovskiy's ex-fiance, Karina Smirnoff.
Speaking of Maks. Does anyone know if he found himself a wife on the Ukrainian version of The Bachelor?
Speaking again of Maks. He got the 2nd highest score of the night with his surprisingly good partner, Kirstie Alley.
Kirstie Alley and Ralph Macchio got the biggest audience reactions of the night, with, I think, Kirstie being shown the loudest appreciation.
Kirstie and Maks are very amusing together.
I was a bit surprised when Maks mentioned that Kirstie looks pretty good for a 60 year old broad. She's that told, I thought? Then I remembered Cheers ended almost 20 years ago.
One of the "stars" is a guy named Mike Catherwood. He is paired with Lacey Schwimmer. He is a radio personality I'd never heard of. He got the lowest scores of the night.
I did not think Mike Catherwood was as bad as Wendy Williams. Wendy looks to be in way over her head. She sort of plodded over the stage like a big ship being guided by a tugboat in the form of Tony Dovolani.
This year's dancing jocks are wrestler Chris Jericho, paired with Cheryl Burke, footballer Hines Ward, paired with Kym Johnson and boxer Sugar Ray Leonard, paired with Anna Trebunsakaya.
Of the jocks, Sugar Ray was the worst. Chris Jericho is very energetic, while Hines Ward appears to be yet one more NFL star who easily adapts to being light on his feet.
I have no idea who Romeo is. He was paired with Chelsea Hightower. He did not dance well.
Supermodel Petra Memcova is paired with Dimitry Chaplin. Petra was injured in the 2004 Indonesian Earthquake Tsunami. She had a bit of a breakdown whilst practicing upon learning of the tragedy in Japan.
I guess I am in for now with this latest iteration of Dancing with the Stars. If not for Kirstie Alley it'd be debatable if I'd be viewing.

Maksim Chmerkovskiy In The Ukraine On The Bachelor Wondering If Mark Ballas & Derek Hough Will Be On The American The Bachelor
You are looking at picture of Dancing with the Stars Maksim Chmerkovskiy soon after his arrival in the Ukraine, on November 26.
Has Maks defected back to his homeland?
No.
Maks is back in his old homeland to try and find a wife by being on a Ukrainian TV network's Ukrainian version of ABC's The Bachelor.
I learned of this on Maks' blog where he defended himself regarding rumors that he'd refused to be on the American version of The Bachelor because he can't stand American women.
Maks has had some lovelife woes in his search for a wife. He claims to be real shy, with his time taken up by his dance career. For awhile Maks was engaged to fellow dancer Karina Smirnoff. He seemed real happy about it. But then they split. And now Karina is engaged again. While Maks hunts for Ukrainian love.
I think Maks would be very amusing on the American The Bachelor.
The Bachelor/Bachelorette has had a one way relationship with Dancing with the Stars, with Bachelorettes Trista Rehn Sutter and Melissa Rycroft dancing, along with everyone's most despised Bachelor, Jake Pavelka.
It seems only fair that one or two of the Dancing with the Stars stars should be on The Bachelor or The Bachelorette.
If Karina Smirnoff most recent engagement goes awry, she'd make a good Bachelorette.
Wouldn't Derek Hough or Mark Ballas be amusing Bachelors? Those boys in the Fantasy Suites? Now that would be some entertaining TV viewing.
I wonder if the Ukrainian version of The Bachelor will have Maks in 3 different Fantasy Suites? He's such a shy guy, I'm sure this would make him very nervous.
In the video below you'll see Maks upon his arrival in the Ukraine and hear him speaking Russian. Or is it Ukrainian............?

Dancing With The Stars: Bristol Palin & Mark Ballas In The Final 3 with Brandy & Maks Out
Well. The Palin Family Television dominance continues. Tonight, even though Bristol Palin had the lowest scores from the Dancing with the Stars judges, the viewers voted for her in numbers sufficient to put Bristol Palin into next week's DWTS finale.
The screen cap is from the moment when Maks realizes that once more he is not going to win the coveted mirror ball trophy.
In defeat Maks was quite eloquent, waxing poetic about the American way of the people getting to have their say, via voting, being one of the reasons his family came to America.
Brandy seemed to be taking it worse than Maks, saying, in effect, she'd need time to process the stunning defeat.
Now, Bristol has 2 dances to learn next week, including the Freestyle. This should be interesting.
And Bruno asked Brandy and Maks to come back, next Tuesday, and do their Freestyle? I did not realize Bruno ran the show.

Carrie Ann Inaba's Fit Pitching With Maks On Dancing With The Stars
You are looking at Carrie Ann Inaba. She is one of Dancing with the Stars judges.
Looking at the picture you would think the woman is smiling. What that seemingly benign expression really was, was her passive-aggressive last word in an argument with Maks, he being the professional partner of Brandy.
Brandy and Maks had just finished their "Instant Dance" with the "Instant Dance" being this week's DWTS gimmick.
Earlier in the week the pairs or couples or teams or whatever you call them on DWTS were told what dance they were to dance for the "Instant Dance." The instant part came last night, when, after completing the first dance of the night, the as annoying as Samantha Harris, co-host, Brooke Burke, instructs the celebrity to pick cd out of a bowl.
On that cd was the music the couples were to dance to, with only 20 minutes to get used to the song.
Now, I must say, I've long thought Carrie Ann Inaba is a bit on the dim side. Last night she really showed off her dimness. After Maks and Brandy finished their "Instant Dance," Carrie Ann Inaba was just all upset because Maks and Brandy did not hit the ground dancing on the first beat. Instead they cutely slid into it a couple beats into the music.
Maks instantly bristled at Carrie's stridency. I like Maks. He is funny. But, I don't think that boy has had a lot of practice retorting to irrational banshee types. So, at first all he could think to say to Carrie Ann Inaba was to advise her "Don't worry about it." Or some words to that effect.
Which further aggravated the totally upset Carrie Ann Inaba. Because she was very very worried about it.
As Carrie Ann Inaba worked herself up into ever higher levels of high dungeon, Maks started arguing back, sort of laughing at her ridiculousness.
I really think the producers of DWTS need to instruct Carrie Ann Inaba to dial it back a bit. She makes WAY too big a deal over little stuff.
As for the rest of the night.
Well, Mark Ballas and his girl friend, Bristol Palin, went to Alaska again to see Mark's future in-laws, Sarah and Todd Palin. And his future adopted son, Tick or Trick or Tork, or something like that.
I've actually grown to like Bristol. She seems like a nice girl. But, I can't help but wonder, if Mark and Bristol can't keep their hands and lips off each other when it is live TV, what goes on when the camera goes dim?
And then there is Jennifer Grey. I have never seen Dirty Dancing. Jennifer Grey means nothing to me. I grow tired of her weekly woe, that she miraculously rises above, to astound the judges with her dancing.
I don't mind the Disney kid, Kyle Massey. Never heard of him before he was on DWTS. Likable, funny kid. But I find myself fast forwarding him, along with the football player, Kurt Warner.
So, for me it is Maks and Brandy for the win. Or Bristol and Mark. After the win they can elope to Las Vegas and have themselves a fine honeymoon. I mean that for both Bristol and Mark and Maks and Brandy.

Dancing With The Stars: Maks & Karina Kaput?
Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Karina Smirnoff are two of the professional dancers on Dancing with the Stars. At some point in the past year, or so, the pair of dancers decided to become a pair of future married people.
Maks Tweets on Twitter.
He had this to say about his dance partner for the upcoming new season of DWTS, "MY PARTNER FOR SEASON 9 OF 'DWTS' IS......... DEBI MAZAR!!! Very excited! She is cool, can move and funny as hell! It'll be fun!"
Maks has several Tweets about his new dance partner. I've seen no Tweets about Maks' finance, Karina.
Until Yesterday.
Maks Tweeted, "What was meant to be a 'life long book', turned into a 'chapter'.......and now that 'chapter' is finished...... Se la vie..."
I asked Maks if this meant Karina and he were no more. Maks did not get back to me on that. But, what else might that Tweet mean? Well, Karina was bordering on being a cougar, older than Maks, was she. It's likely for the best.

Maksim Chmerkovskiy & Madonna Dancing With The Stars Connection
I like Dancing with the Stars pro dancer, Maksim Chmerkovskiy. He is very amusing. This summer he was the winner on that odd show on ABC called Superstars. Or something like that.Maks' partner for the upcoming new edition of DWTS is the actress from HBO's Entourage known as Debi Mazar.
Debi Mazar is also known as Madonna's longtime best friend.
Maks and Debi were practicing their dancing lately when Debi told Maks that she'd been describing him to Madonna, who then said, "Maks sounds divine."
Maksim then said, "I can die now. I have accomplished it all. Madonna said I sounded divine."
Maks is slated to marry fellow pro DWTS's dancer, Karina Smirnoff. That is Karina with Maks in the picture. Maks is 2 years younger than Karina, who is 31. Maks says he is ready to be a baby daddy. No date has been set for either the wedding or a baby.
Maks and Karina will be performing at the Emmy Awards on September 20.
